I have a background in Home Economics and an interest in patchwork, smocking, flower arranging and felt making is a high priority. This has developed into attending hatmaking millinery schools and silk flower making.
My aim in all I do is for people to enjoy what they are making with me, gaining confidence, meeting new people and wanting to explore a craft more.
I have done all my work in the community, giving talks, workshops, Big Arts Week days, selling my work in London, Shrewsbury and locally with exhibitions of my hats in libraries. I have been on TV 3 times talking about my work on S4C.
In workshops I talk about the uses of wool, sheep breeds, trying on hats and practical feltmaking from woollen tops to a textile picture fit for work in schools. I deliver workshops in both English and Welsh.
I have worked with Merched Y Wawr, Youth National Eisteddfod Newport, learning difference clients, Woman's refuge work with felt. I am also an experienced milliner making fancy hats, using Blocks and traditional materials.
I wish to continue making silk flowers for my hats and to continue learning more about my craft.
Felt making is still very important and I would like to continue the good work to bring it to the local and surrounding community.
My work follows five main strands:
