The
Celebration of Children’s Creativity
project is one of the core projects run by Arts Connection.
It offers a diverse and specialist range of arts and crafts
activities to children between the ages of 4 and 11 years.
The
Celebrating Children's Creativity project has been running for
9 years and is one of our most diverse projects. Each year we
work with 35 - 40 primary school groups, providing around 2,500
participant places in a wide range of arts activities.
The
mediums for this years project were as diverse as ever and very
successful. Baka Beyond introduce Llanfyllin Primary School
to the music of the rainforest, Caliche introduced Machynlleth
Primary School to Latin rhythms, a tubular bells instrument
was made at Leighton Primary School with Stan Jankowski, Felt
making and its processes was introduced to Llanfihangel Primary
School by Edna Griffiths, Clay Sculptures were produced by Oldford
Primary School with Ingrid Maugham, Dance was fun at Pontrobert
Primary School with Sally Russell, Film poems about 'My Favourite
THing' were made by Forden Primary School with Ruth Carter.
THis is just a taster of what has happened so far this year.
The
9 primary schools involved in making the Jac-y-Do attended a
CD launch in November which resulted in a visit to the National
Assembly for Wales on January 30th 2007. 4 coaches and 120 children
travelled down to the Senedd where the children performed a
selection of the songs twice to Assembly Ministers and the general
public.
