Celebrating Children's Creativity 2006
The Celebration of Children's Creativity project is one of the core projects run by Arts Connection. It offers a diverse and specialist range of arts and crafts activities to children between the ages of 4 and 11 years.
The project has so far this year served 20 schools around North Powys offering more than 2,400 participant places. The mediums used to produce work were as diverse as ever and produced a broad range of art and craft work. projects included the Jaipur Kawa Brass band, metal work, building 3-D houses, animation work, landscape painting, willow making, mosaic work, batik work and much more. Demand for the project was high and well received.
The project this year also created a 38 track CD of Welsh Nursery Rhymes called 'Jac y Do' sung by pupils from 9 different schools in the local area - Dyffryn Banw, Llanfihangel, Llanfair Caereinion, Llanerfyl, Llanfyllin, Llanrhaeadr, Pontrobert, Pennant and Llanwddyn. The project was led by Arfon Gwilym.
The Jaipur Kawa Brass Band are a group of Rajasthani gypsies from Jaipur in Northern India. The band features 8 musicians, a fakir and the Gypsy Sapera Kalbelya dancer. The group has been assembled by Hameed Khan Kawa. They performed at Llanfyllin Primary School and delighted the children.
